This glossary explains the names and terms used in and around ANANTA, NetEase’s free urban open-world RPG that launches on January 15, 2027 (fact in the registry). Each entry is one or two sentences, and each term links to the page on Ananta Hub that carries its source. Where NetEase hasn’t explained a term, the entry says so. Longer explanations are in ANANTA story and world explained, the ANANTA map guide and ANANTA gameplay explained.

World and story

  • Chaos: NetEase’s name for the supernatural anomalies in the game’s cities, from paranormal events to toilets racing through traffic. Dealing with Chaos is the ACD’s job.
  • Maniac Chaos: the name the official description of the 2025 gameplay video gives one anomaly. Fighting it in a traffic jam turns the Captain into an internet sensation.
  • M-Cineres: the Chaos that a warning reports in the 2023 Project Mugen reveal trailer (0:59), back when the game had its working title.
  • The Captain: the main character and the new captain of the ACD, who comes from Chongxiao and arrives in Nova City as the story begins. A female Captain will be available at launch alongside the male one (gender and looks).
  • Chenxiu: the name the subtitles of the 2025 gameplay videos give the Captain. NetEase hasn’t confirmed it as a default name.
  • Punt Master and Yeet Master: nicknames for the Captain. Lykaia Reign uses the first in the 2025 gameplay video (9:43), and crowds chant the second in the Launch Date Trailer (0:48).
  • Lingjing: special places (Chinese 灵境) that the Lingjing Supervisory Agency surveys; the official site says a legendary one is hidden inside Bachong Pagoda. What a Lingjing is, NetEase hasn’t explained.
  • Atypical talent: an ability you can be examined for at the Lingjing Supervisory Agency, according to the official site. Who counts as one, NetEase hasn’t said.

Organizations and companies

  • ACD (Anti-Chaos Directorate): the task force the Captain leads. It goes under right after the Captain’s first day, and rebuilding it by recruiting agents runs through the story.
  • NCCA: Nova City’s police, where Richie serves. The official site doesn’t spell out the abbreviation, but the subtitles of the 2025 gameplay video call it the Nova City Crime Agency, with Lykaia Reign as its director (fact in the registry).
  • Lingjing Supervisory Agency: Chongxiao’s authority for Lingjing and Chaos. It surveys Lingjing, responds to Chaos incidents, runs atypical talent exams and hires staff; its page on the official site is called LSA.
  • Yeet Squad: the content creator crew Taffy co-founded, hoping for perks at a million followers. NetEase’s 2026 materials also use the name for the team you build by recruiting residents.
  • Scope: a section of the official site styled as an in-world app, with the slogan “Turn Your Visions into Vibes”. Our assessment: it is the in-game social and streaming network.
  • Reign Group: Nova City’s largest conglomerate, whose building business is Reign Construction. NetEase hasn’t linked it to Lykaia Reign.

Places

  • Nova City: the first city and map (Chinese 新启), a coastal metropolis where the story begins. In 2023 interviews its English name was Nova Inception Urbs.
  • Veluxity Zone: Nova City’s district for street racing, fight clubs and other risky fun, run by the ParaBoar gang.
  • Chongxiao: the second big map (Chinese 重霄), revealed in August 2026, and the Captain’s home. Producer Ash Qi says it is larger than Nova City (fact in the registry).
  • Lingyun: a city inside Chongxiao (Chinese 凌云), modeled on Shanghai and Hangzhou. Coverage from 2025 called it the game’s second city.
  • Mingpu District: Lingyun’s riverside business district, with Zenith Tower and the historic building of the Lingjing Supervisory Agency.
  • Weilan Lake: the lake in Lingyun where Bachong Pagoda is reflected in the water. TechRadar compared it with Hangzhou’s West Lake, and Ash Qi gives boating there as an activity only Chongxiao has.
  • Longqi Village: a tea village near Lingyun where Wei Yinglong runs the temple. In the Gamescom 2026 demo the press explored it and played at its village fair.

Game systems

  • Swinging: grappling and swinging between skyscrapers, ANANTA’s signature way to move. Movement uses no stamina (fact in the registry).
  • Switching characters: jumping between recruited ACD agents, each with a separate story, job and way of fighting.
  • Telekinesis: every playable character can pull objects in and throw them at enemies, GamesRadar reported from the Tokyo Game Show 2025 demo.
  • Hidden masters: martial arts masters disguised as ordinary citizens, such as a man with a yo-yo. Finding them gives the hero new abilities, weapons and allies.
  • Fame: the Captain’s following, which grows with missions, crises and selfies and unlocks new missions. The tagline is “Go Viral. Save the World.”
  • Co-op: play with friends, which producer Ash describes as a closed format, not an MMO. NetEase says the multiplayer mode is still in development (fact in the registry).
  • Homes: every character has one, and producer Ash promises a fair amount of freedom to renovate it.
  • Wingsuit: one way to fly, along with helicopters and flying cars; the hero can’t fly unaided, NetEase told AUTOMATON.
  • Itasha: a car covered in anime art. Producer Ash told Famitsu that car paint jobs can go that far.

Money and rewards

  • Free-to-play: ANANTA is free on every platform, and NetEase earns from cosmetics such as outfits, vehicles and homes (fact in the registry).
  • Gacha: paid random draws that many free games use to sell characters. ANANTA doesn’t sell characters through gacha, but the App Store and Google Play declare paid random items (fact in the registry).
  • Golvent: the in-game currency. The first pre-registration reward was 10,000 Golvent.
  • Jillion Vouchers: a second currency named in the pre-registration rewards; 100 of them unlock at 30 million sign-ups. What they buy, NetEase hasn’t explained.
  • Clothing Dye and Character Outfit: pre-registration rewards at 20 and 35 million sign-ups, 10 Clothing Dye and one outfit.
  • Car Paint Selector: the reward for a social media follower goal, which Game8 gives as 7 million.

Platforms and tech

  • Pro Enhanced: the PlayStation Store label for games improved for PS5 Pro. ANANTA has it, but NetEase hasn’t said what the Pro version improves.
  • DLSS 4.5: NVIDIA’s upscaling and frame generation for GeForce RTX cards. In August 2026 NetEase said ANANTA moves from DLSS 4 to DLSS 4.5.

People and names behind the game

  • Naked Rain: the NetEase studio developing ANANTA, with teams in Hangzhou and Montreal. NetEase Games publishes the game.
  • Thunder Fire: the NetEase division, Leihuo (雷火) in Chinese, that Naked Rain belongs to, according to PocketGamer.biz.
  • Ash Qi: ANANTA’s producer, called simply Ash in many interviews.
  • Project Mugen: the working title from the 2023 reveal. The game got the name ANANTA on November 29, 2024.
  • 无限大: the Chinese title, meaning “infinity”. At the 2023 reveal it was 代号:无限大, “Codename: Infinity”.
