ANANTA vs GTA 6: release dates, price, platforms and how the two games differ

GTA 6 comes out first: Rockstar’s game launches on November 19, 2026, and ANANTA follows 57 days later, on January 15, 2027 (fact in the registry). The biggest practical differences are price and platforms. GTA 6 is a paid game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Standard Edition at $79.99. ANANTA is free to play on PC, PS5, iOS and Android (fact in the registry).

ANANTA is often called the “anime GTA”, and TechRadar’s 2026 interview headline called it a free GTA 6 competitor; NetEase calls it an urban open-world RPG. GTA 6 claims below come from Rockstar, Take-Two, stores and rating boards, except the PC window, a press report.

Release dates: 57 days apart

Rockstar set November 19, 2026 on November 6, 2025, after an earlier delay, and digital pre-orders can be downloaded from November 12. NetEase announced ANANTA’s date on August 25, 2026 for all platforms at once (fact in the registry) and hasn’t named a pre-download date (open question).

Price and what you pay for

Take-Two confirmed $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, TheSixthAxis reported. At Take-Two’s annual meeting on September 17, 2026, CEO Strauss Zelnick said no recurrent consumer spending is anticipated with this launch, though the ESRB listing notes in-game purchases.

ANANTA is free. Characters aren’t sold through gacha (fact in the registry); NetEase earns from cosmetics (fact in the registry), and the mobile stores declare paid random items it hasn’t explained (fact in the registry). Platforms: PC, consoles and phones

At launch GTA 6 is out only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar hasn’t announced a PC version. GamesBeat reported on October 13, 2026, citing four unnamed industry sources, that it is planned for the first quarter of 2027; Rockstar didn’t comment.

ANANTA launches on PC, PS5, iOS and Android on the same day; an Xbox version hasn’t been announced (fact in the registry). Both games are PS5 Pro Enhanced in the PlayStation Store (fact in the registry). If the GamesBeat report holds, GTA 6 reaches PC in the quarter ANANTA launches.

Setting: Leonida and Vice City vs Nova City and Chongxiao

GTA 6 is set in the state of Leonida, whose main city is Vice City; Rockstar names six regions in all. Rockstar has described the map as about twice the size of GTA 5’s, Dexerto reports.

Protagonists: a couple or a growing cast

GTA 6 has two protagonists, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, both with profiles on Rockstar’s site.

ANANTA starts with the Captain, the new head of the ACD, a task force against Chaos. The developers told GAME Watch and Pocket Tactics that the Captain can be a man or a woman from launch (fact in the registry). Six characters are playable, and more will come in free story updates (fact in the registry). Profiles are in all ANANTA characters.

Online and multiplayer

Rockstar calls GTA 6 a single-player game and hasn’t announced an online mode. Zelnick said Take-Two will keep supporting GTA Online on GTA 5.

ANANTA’s producer describes its multiplayer as co-op with friends, not an MMO (fact in the registry). A NetEase representative told AUTOMATON that a multiplayer mode is in development (fact in the registry). More in ANANTA multiplayer explained.

Age ratings and languages

GTA 6 is rated ESRB M (Mature 17+), PEGI 18 and USK 18. ANANTA has no final ESRB rating yet; the App Store rates it 13+ and Google Play Teen (fact in the registry).

GTA 6 launches in 13 languages, Zelnick said, and the Xbox Store lists English as its only voice-over; Russian gets the interface and subtitles. ANANTA lists 16 interface languages on Steam, Russian among them (fact in the registry), and full voice-over in four (fact in the registry).

How long will each game keep you busy?

Rob Nelson of Rockstar North finished GTA 6’s story with some optional goals in about 80 hours, Engadget reports. ANANTA’s leads told Insider Gaming it has at least 100 hours of content (fact in the registry). One number is a playthrough, the other a planned total.
