Yes, ANANTA will have a female Captain at launch. Tian Yu of the development team told the Japanese site GAME Watch at Gamescom 2026 that a female Captain is planned for the January 15, 2027 release and is still being polished (fact in the registry).

- GAME Watch, August 28, 2026: Tian Yu said the female Captain will be there at launch and is still being polished. GAME Watch notes that almost no footage of her has been shown.
- Pocket Tactics, September 2, 2026: Link, the Global Publishing Lead, and Rain, the International Marketing Lead, said the game offers both a male and a female option.
Until then the question stayed open. NetEase’s English texts call the Captain “he”, and the choice was mentioned only in secondary sources such as Wikipedia and Icy Veins.
What customization is promised
A NetEase representative told AUTOMATON on September 14 that the game will have basic options for the character’s looks and physique (fact in the registry). How deep the editor goes, and whether it covers only the Captain or the whole cast, NetEase didn’t say. Outfits, car paint and homes are a separate system, and NetEase plans to sell some of those items (outfits and customization).
Can you change the Captain’s name?
NetEase hasn’t said. Its sites call the hero simply Captain. Subtitles in the Tokyo Game Show 2025 gameplay videos call the Captain Chenxiu, but NetEase hasn’t confirmed it as a default name (open question).
Who the Captain is
The Captain is the main character and the new head of the ACD, a task force against Chaos that is falling apart. The hero comes from Chongxiao, arrives in Nova City, rebuilds the team and grows a following online; according to Game Informer, one of the goals is to find a missing father (fact in the registry).
